Three out of five Armenians injured in a deadly road accident on a Georgian highway on Sunday are being transported to Armenia by ambulance, Minister of Emergency Situations Feliks Tsolakyan told reporters on Monday.

A Mercedes carrying eight passengers ran into a road barrier and caught fire on Georgia’s Tbilisi-Senak-Leselidze highway, leaving three Armenians dead and five others wounded.

The bodies of the three passengers were found outside the vehicle. The injured were hospitalized at Kareli and Gori Medical Centers.

The minister said the two other citizens injured in the crash are in a critical condition and will most likely be transported to Armenia by helicopter ambulance on Tuesday.

He also added Armenia’s deputy minister of health and emergency situations have visited the Georgian capital to meet with the crash victims.

Tsolakyan stated the driver’s negligence caused the accident. “The small car carried eight passengers, with two children in the luggage compartment. This already speaks of the driver’s negligence and indifferent behavior,” the minister said, urging all drivers to be cautious.
