Yerevan waste management company Sanitek failed to pay around 580,000,000 drams in taxes from January to September 2018, Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Edward Hovhannisyan told a news conference on Tuesday.
The tax official said according to the preliminary calculations of tax obligations, Sanitek International has not calculated and paid 299,918,300 drams to the state in nine months, while its branch Sanitek Armenia – 280,429,100 drams.
According to the official an investigation has also revealed that Sanitek International and Sanitek Armenia also failed to submit its unified environmental tax and fee accounts for 2018.
Hovhannisyan stressed that Sanitek has presented its garbage collection services as cargo transportation, only continuing to pay value added taxes for sanitary cleaning of areas or its snow removal services.
He said Armenia’s Nature Protection and Soil Inspection Body has also been tasked to determine the amount of unpaid taxes by the company.
